捕捉 Community Stories: Screening of Local Documentaries at The Park Church

Dr. Doc Billingsley, Assistant Professor of Anthropology, will moderate a 筛选 of the films developed in the Community Documentation Workshop at 7:00 p.m., June 12, in The Park Church at 208 West Gray Street in Elmira.

The 筛选 is presented in partnership with The Park Church as part of their Meaningful Movie program and is free and open to the public. Light refreshments and snacks will be available. Q&A with the creators will happen following the video 筛选.

An ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes program, Community Documentation Workshop was developed by Billingsley and T.C. 欧文斯, Folk Arts Coordinator at the Arts Council. It equips grassroots organizations in the Elmira-Corning region with the skills and perspectives to document and present their cultural traditions in ways that center their voices and perspectives. Additional program partners include Chemung County 图书馆 District MakerSpace, Chemung County Historical Society, 去艺术.

Attendees will view four short documentaries made by local community organizations: Ancient Voices Media, 灵粮, Islamic Association of the Finger Lakes, United Steelworkers Local 1000.
